August 6, 2021
NVLA Elementary School Families,
My name is Michael Martin, and I am the principal of Nevada Learning Academy at CCSD (NVLA). I hope all of our incoming students are as excited about this upcoming school year as we are at NVLA! Our school’s enrollment has been growing at a very high rate each day since the beginning of July. During the 2020-2021 school year, NVLA had approximately 450 full-time students. As of today, August 6th, we have accepted over 4,200 full-time distance learning students to NVLA, and we continue to accept hundreds of new students daily. We are so happy and proud to accommodate our Clark County community.
Beginning Friday, August 6th, your child’s elementary school teachers will begin reaching out to all of their students. This outreach to families will continue through the weekend and on Monday, August 9th. Our elementary school teachers will give details for students about how to access student orientation on Monday. Due to some delays in registration and the assignments of teachers, orientations may also take place later the first week of school as well. During the orientation, the teacher will guide you and the student through everything you need to know for the Nevada Learning Academy (NVLA) online learning platform.
We apologize for the scheduling delay and teacher changes due to the tremendous amount of enrollment requests this past week. If you do not receive any outreach from your child’s teacher, by the end of Monday, please reach out to the school to ask for help. If needed, please call
In order to successfully complete the orientation, all students will need access to a computer with a webcam. All of our NVLA students are eligible for a Chromebook, which includes a webcam and microphone. However, if our students wish to use their own equipment, that is acceptable. If a student is still in need of a Chromebook, please complete this form: https://form.jotform.com/211896016599165
I am so excited to welcome you all to our NVLA community. I promise to work with our families to create an educational environment that is successful for ALL students. I will be upfront and say that NVLA will experience some challenges during the early stages of this school year due to our substantial enrollment increase. However, we have an extremely talented staff, and we will ensure all of our students are set on a path to educational success.
