Message from the Principal

Principal Michael Martin PhotoNVLA Community,

Welcome to a new and fantastic year at Nevada Learning Academy (NVLA)! I am Michael Martin, and I am the proud new principal of NVLA. The 2021-2022 school year will undoubtedly be one of the most exciting years in NVLA’s history! Our school has evolved and grown each school year since we began in 1991, and this school year will be no different. For the first time, NVLA will begin offering distance learning for all grades K-12! We are very excited to meet the distance learning needs of our community, and we look forward to offering the premier distance education experience available.

NVLA has a core mission to provide our students with the online education they need to succeed and contribute to a diverse global society. In order to meet our students’ needs, NVLA offers dual credit programs in collaboration with Nevada Higher Education institutions, Advanced Placement courses, Honors courses, and Career Technical Education (CTE) courses. In addition, NVLA helps meet the needs of our entire CCSD community through credit recovery programs that help thousands of students get back on track to graduate with a high school diploma. Our teachers work hard to ensure these programs keep our students on a path to college and career readiness.

Our CCSD community has shown a substantially increased demand for distance learning opportunities for ALL students. NVLA has stepped up to meet that need. We anticipate our NVLA student population to grow exponentially this school year, and we will be ready to provide all of our new students with the high-impact, rigorous, and differentiated instruction they need to succeed in the future.

We are looking forward to an exciting year here at NVLA, and we cannot wait to meet all of our new and returning students. Due to our increased enrollment and the growth in the size of our faculty, there will be new challenges for us all to work through together to ensure student success. Positive communication will be key for our parents, students, staff, and administration to find solutions and positive outcomes for any and all situations. Please know you can reach out to me anytime with your ideas to help continually improve student learning at NVLA.

Thank you so much for your support, and we look forward to the start of this school year!
