NVLA Elementary School
Let Nevada Learning Academy at CCSD be your school
The Nevada Learning Academy at CCSD (NVLA) is a tuition-free online elementary public school, providing students an enhanced educational experience. Students will benefit from an individualized elementary e-school program tailored to meet their abilities and educational goals.
NLVA elementary school benefits include:
- Highly qualified & experienced online teachers
- Quality curriculum aligned to Nevada Academic Content Standards
NVLA’s full-time Elementary School students benefit from online and face-to-face instruction that leads to an innovative and enriched school experience. The majority of the coursework will take place in the online environment using Canvas, a learning management system, with the guidance of an at-home Learning Coach (parent/guardian). Teachers and counselors support students in a variety of ways including phone, email, live chat, text, and face-to-face sessions.
Students are required to attend small group face-to-face sessions weekly or bi-weekly in community locations such as a library or community center. The length of each session will vary depending on grade level. The Learning Coach may be required to join their student for all or a portion of the session. In these sessions, students receive support, successful online learning strategies, content-area instruction, small group instruction, and project-based learning activities. Face-to-face sessions are suspended until the Phase II restrictions have been lifted.
Teachers will conference weekly with the Learning Coach about the student's progress and assignments via in-person meeting, web conference, phone, or email. The Learning Coach is asked to find assistance with childcare for younger siblings during the meetings so they can focus on the student and their lesson during the scheduled time. The face-to-face student session and the Learning Coach conference are mandatory requirements for the NVLA program.
Each student must have an at-home Learning Coach. The Learning Coach must be an adult, usually the parent or guardian, who is responsible for assisting the student in maintaining progress in the online learning environment.
Small Group Face-to-Face Sessions
While in Phase II of the "Nevada United: Roadmap to Recovery", face-to-face meetings are temporarily suspended. Small group sessions may be held in a virtual environment.
